Reading about the site isn't as fun as looking at it.
But you're here anyway, which is pretty interesting.
Site Info
This site has been fully tested in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Mozilla Firefox 1.0PR, both for Windows. The site is fully HTML 4.01 Transitional and CSS2 valid, so any browser supporting those standards should display the site properly. If you do not have a browser that supports those standards, you frankly should get one. A proper standards-based browser will make your web life much better, and good web designers will not hate you as much. I suggest Mozilla Firefox 1.0PR, or any future milestone or final. I do NOT suggest using any version of Internet Explorer - ever.
This site was designed for monitors displaying resolution of 1024x768 pixels and 24-bit color. It is recommended, but not required, that users view the page at those settings.
Alvies.org was created with EditPlus, Adobe Photoshop 6 and 7, and Adobe Imageready 3 and 7. All code was written using EditPlus and its wonderful syntax recognition, and all images for the site layouts were created using the Adobe packages listed above.
Legal Disclaimer and Copyright Info
This site is intended solely as a display of work by Joshua E. Alvies. No trademarked or copyrighted themes, concepts, or images were appropriated for commercial gain, unless, of course, you're going to hire me (but even that is a difficult legal stance to maintain); these items were used only to serve the purpose of the art or HTML depicted. All trademarked or copyrighted images belong to their respective owners, and I've made a concerted effort to identify and cite those owners wherever possible.
When in doubt, don't sue.
